Hello hello… I’m back with a new month recap! I’ve got some stuff to talk about so let’s get into it :P
Taking a break.
So by the beginning of this month I was art blocked, burnt out and with no motivation. I wrote my last entry talking about how I want to find joy in making art again, and my solution was taking a break, but with a different approach from what I usually do. I didn’t want to take a break from drawing entirely nor from posting my art. My plan was to take a break from taking things so seriously.
I think I’m used to working hard on something for a specific goal that I have in mind, it can be a comic, or making merch, or participating in a trend. I work under pressure, draw with high expectations of what the result will be like, and doing that I lose all my motivation and I start drawing with no passion… So I wanted to relax a bit
So I started a sketchbook challenge with my OC Olivia! I’ve been trying to go back to traditional techniques so drawing more traditionally was really fun. I’ve been playing around with watercolors, and continuing to practice with alcohol markers. Overall I just had fun drawing my favorite OC and trying new things :3c
After starting that challenge, it was like motivation came back to me instantly and I even managed to finish three digital pieces that I’m very proud of!! It’s crazy but taking things easy can do wonders. Sometimes I think we’re going too fast, faster than we can handle, then wonder why we fail and burn out. I think it’s normal to be frustrated when we try too hard to do things we’re not ready to do yet! So if you’re going through this too, I suggest you try to slow down and try to enjoy what you do again.
So… what about your art classes?
I can finally say I sent the message to start art classes and hopefully I’ll be able to start soon TTvTT
I’m honestly very excited to learn more about fundamentals, how to do studies and improve my art. I’m still very anxious, but I will do my best to go and get over the fear of doing something new 😤
The Eclipse Keys: finally a WIP!
The Eclipse Keys is my first webcomic that I plan to start posting this year :D Well, this past week I’ve started to write the outline of the plot, and I’ve also started designing the main characters' final designs.
I’d say that everything is very early in development, but at the same time I’ve got a very clear idea of what I want to do with this story and its characters, so everything should go smoothly so I can at least post the first page by the end of the year.
I’m also still working on the website section with all the info about my characters and stories, but progress has kinda stagnated a bit because I need to finish new art and character sheets before I can continue coding it. So yeah, that’s something I’ll get to later this year (possibly when I start publishing the comic? Still not sure about it, I can’t promise anything regarding this project lol)
That’s all for now!
I think that’s all I had to update this month :D as always, I’m pretty active on Bluesky so feel free to follow me over there if you wanna be updated more frequently on whatever I’m doing or see my art updates :P I guess I should start uploading my art to my gallery on this site, but I’m struggling to find time to copy all my art to my PC then posting it here T.T But I’ll get to it at some point I promise!
Anyway, I hope next month has more interesting stuff going on and more art to share ^u^ Bye for now!
